About Electric Staplers

The electric stapler has become the answer to many weary fingers for countless workers, both in large companies and home offices.

Staplers are such a handy modern convenience, it's hard to imagine they've been around since the 1700s, when the first stapler was invented for the personal use of France's King Louis XV. This handmade invention, then called a "fastener" or "stapling machine", came with its own personalized staples, each one engraved with the French royal court's insignia!

Staplers have since experienced several incarnations, including the development of staples in a strip. But it wasn't until the year 1909 that this handy paper fastener was finally given its name - the stapler. In the 1930s the top-loading, manual stapler as we know it was sent clicking into offices around the world and still remains the same, useful tool in many companies today.
Contemporary electric staplers now exist with foot switches, push-button capabilities and automatic sensors. Some staplers even go as far as to combine all of these features. These heavy-duty electric models are designed for frequent usage and are capable of fastening large stacks of paper together with one click. Many even promise jam-free operation and come built with a staple indicator light to alert you before it runs out of staples.

On average, a light duty electric stapler runs anywhere from $30 to $200. A heavy-duty electric model currently runs from $250 up to $550.
