Sony's line of digital camera products is extensive and has been around for as long as the product itself. In the late 1980's, the early Sony Mavica (Magnetic Video Camera) would be a preview of what was to come in the next decade in digital photography. The Mavica cameras were one of the first retail products that recorded images onto a video floppy disc instead of a roll of film - this is where it all started!
Sony is still one of the leading manufacturers of digital cameras worldwide. Their extensive product lines are aimed to please both the photo-savvy and the Average Joe. The compact style and durability of all Sony's leading digital products are complemented by highly competitive price points. Most of their products include MPEG video capture capability; a nice feature to have if the occasion calls for it.
Some newer Sony Mavica devices are now saving to a 158Mb Mini-CD, allowing more room for saves and better compatibility with personal computers. The drawback to this new technology is that it takes a fair bit longer to record to then the more common memory chips.
