Space: Be sure that your computer desk has sufficient space not only for your computer itself, but also for other equipment that you plan to connect to it (such as a printer, scanner, keyboard, mouse, speakers). As well, consider the decorations or a telephone, for example, which you plan to place on the desk.
Keyboard Drawer: If you use a keyboard, using a keyboard drawer is the most convenient way to extend it to the desired level, while preserving maximum desk space. Most units also have room for a mouse.
CD Holder: The growth of the CD-ROM has meant an abundance of new discs that must be stored. A desk with built-in CD storage will get those CDs off of your desktop, while giving you easy access to them.
Grommet Hole: Do not overlook the grommet hole when shopping for a computer desk. Located at the back of the desktop or at the bottom of the hutch (if applicable), the grommet hole allows you to string the many cords and cables behind the desk and to their destination. The reduced clutter and simplicity makes this feature a must-have.
Desk Wheels: Common on some armoires and most mobile computer carts, wheels allow you to move your system to other locations with ease. Ensure that the wheels on the model you're considering do not roll too easily or have brakes.
