Anti-Glare Screens

How to reduce the glare on your monitor

If you spend a lot of time in front of your computer screen, you’ll be interested in reducing the glare from your monitor. Let’s say you spend approximately five hours a day in front of it – do you take regular breaks away from the computer and allow your eyes to recover before continuing your work? Maybe you can’t get away from the monitor as often as you would like; after all, deadlines don’t care about damaging your eyesight. It’s up to you to find ways to reduce the glare on your monitor.

Anti-Glare Controls

Every monitor features control buttons, usually found on the lower front end of it. You shouldn’t change these settings on a regular basis, but it may be necessary to periodically to adjust the settings. This may be particularly true if you move your monitor to a different location where it is exposed to brighter light. Before you consider making a purchase to reduce the glare on your monitor, try adjusting the monitor’s brightness through the factory-built settings. If you change the settings and don’t like them, you can always try to go back to the default settings.

Anti-Glare Laptop Screens

Anti-glare laptop screens have similar adjustments and default settings as desktop monitors. The difference is that laptop screens use LEDs and are often much brighter than regular monitors. Brightness does not always suggest that your laptop screen will have more glare. Glare is often the direct result of where you’re sitting – once you move, the glare may be gone. Otherwise, adjust your laptop screen settings through the control panel.

Anti-Glare Protectors

If you find the settings of your monitor or laptop screen have been adjusted as far as possible, but you’re still wondering how to further reduce glare, there are other options. An anti-glare protector is the solution. Whether you are using a desktop monitor attached to your computer or you are working from a laptop, notebook or even an iBook screen, there are different types of anti-glare protectors to help reduce the glare on your screen. Inexpensive protectors are sheets of static film and can be placed directly against the viewing area of your screen. Advanced protectors clip onto your screen and provide even greater glare resistance.
